# Winston Chmielinski — wsc.fyi Artist and systems builder, medium-agnostic. One through-line runs across painting, sound, geometry, software, and interface design: building a parallel internet. Not a different network — a different way of using the one we already have, on purpose, in the presence of other people. ## What this is A portfolio that became a world. Not a list of projects but a landscape of things built and ideas that carry their own energy, with room left for other people to build. Some nodes are finished works, some are directions, some are places where others have started. We are revealing the map together. ## The through-line For every manifest form there is a hidden network of forces that brought it into being. The work makes those forces perceptible — the decay already moving inside a painting, the timing inside a voice, the geometry underneath a sound. The same instinct turns toward our own lives: the conditioning, the attention, the systems shaping how we want and where we look. Different projects do different jobs along one arc. Some decondition. Some strip away. Some investigate. Some make the invisible visible. Some redirect attention back toward what we actually want. This is the point worth holding onto: an artist does not have to be medium-specific to have a through-line. The medium changes every time. The approach does not. ## On this moment The internet is here to stay, and we will keep spending more time on screens. The real question is whether the screen can become a way back into ourselves — our health, our orientation, our sense of belonging — and back into the felt presence of other people. Most of what we use online is built to take our attention. These are the same tools, used on purpose. Now that anyone can make their own software from a prompt, the question is no longer who can build it. The question is what we build it for. The interface is never unbiased. So we build interfaces biased toward our own growth. ## Presence The internet is hyperactive and still leaves us alone. The work puts presence back — other people made perceptible as real minds, here with us, redirecting their attention alongside ours. That shared act, more than any protocol, is what the parallel internet actually is. ## The work (one approach, many mediums) - **Permanent Collection** — a master painting rendered as the slow system of forces taking it apart, so the thing the market treats as permanent shows up as something in the middle of coming apart. *(making invisible forces visible)* - **Sonifold** — a voice mapped into space; the timing of every word becomes a coordinate, pause becomes distance, silence becomes position. *(translation across senses)* - **Painting Machine** — oil painting translated into woven coordinate logic; a painter's decisions turned into structure you can read. *(translation)* - **Self OS** — an attention redirector where every block becomes a redirect toward what you actually wanted; the philosophy and the community are the real work. *(redirect attention, presence)* - **The Presence Chamber** — other people shown as glowing fields of consciousness, present with you, so the screen carries presence instead of noise. *(presence)* - **Somatic Stillness & Polar Shadow** — a quiet, breathing canvas for coming back into the body. *(decondition, presence)* - **Projective Geometry & Sound Spatialization** — non-Euclidean geometry translated into how sound sits in space. *(translation, geometry)* - **Cosmic Botany** — flowers grown by orbital law, where the hidden mechanics of growth become a visible form. *(make invisible visible, geometry)* - **Cloud Embassy** — a neutral container where real-life actions subtract weather from the screen, clearing the atmosphere as life is handled. *(strip away)* - **Field Conditions** — a design system for orienting presence, built from the seated body, the eyes, and the hands. *(investigate, presence)* - **Interfacing** — a long-running archive and identity practice; the design language under the rest of the work. *(identity, system)* - **Interfacers** — geometric portraits generated as a way of giving people a form of their own. *(identity)* ## What is being built A world that other people can build in too. The long goal is to connect this work to a larger vision: a parallel way of using the same tools, consciously, together — interfaces that are uncompromisingly for the people using them, and that keep turning attention back toward our own lived reality. --- *Contact: hi@wsc.fyi · Painting: weseeclearly.com*
